What is the Gospel?
The word "gospel" literally means "good news." But what exactly is this good news that has transformed billions of lives throughout history?
The Problem: We Are Separated from God
The Bible teaches that every person has sinned and fallen short of God's perfect standard.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
— Romans 3:23 (NIV)
This sin separates us from God and leads to spiritual death.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
— Romans 6:23 (NIV)
The Solution: Jesus Died for Us
Here's the good news: God didn't leave us in our hopeless condition. Out of His great love, He sent His Son Jesus to pay the penalty for our sins.
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
— Romans 5:8 (NIV)
The Victory: Jesus Rose Again
Jesus didn't stay dead. Three days after His crucifixion, He rose from the grave, conquering sin and death forever.
"He is not here; he has risen!"
— Luke 24:6 (NIV)
The Invitation: Believe and Be Saved
Salvation is a free gift, received through faith in Jesus Christ.
"If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
— Romans 10:9 (NIV)
